Appreciation......
The Mountain Home Show owes its success to the businesses that participate in the show. They arrange such wonderful exhibits. It is obvious that they take great pride in their work and our show.

This would get their name in the paper whenever photographs were taken of the artists' displays. This would also provide the perfect backdrop for newspaper photographs of giving donations to charities. They have received many complements on their beautified lobby.

The King Residence

Problem:

Mr. and Mrs.King have owned a home on a mountain lake for years. This home is typical of many built in our area; it is not easily accessible. There are many steep stairays, even to get to the entrance. No one should build homes this way, especially in a retirement area like ours. Having concerns of their future health they wanted to make their home more accessible. The home was also very dark, and frankly unattractive. Their budget limited what we could do and their property is extremely difficult for constructing an addition.

Solution:

I met with the Kings to determine what was most critical. I made complete measurements of the home and made these into a set of plans with my computer. I came up with a design that they loved, but when they went to a builder they realized it was out of their budget. I was so happy that they followed my reccomendation of getting a builder's opinion before I completed the plans. This helped us make sure they could afford to build what I designed. I went back to redesign an addition that would be more affordable. It was a challenge, but I was able to provide them full wheelchair access to the main level and bring a lot of light into the home. The addition would also connect the existing carport to the home.

The following pictures are of the front during construction:

Notice how a wheelchair access was added to the upper level, while fitting in nicely with the site.

Other views of the entry.

The back of the home, as seen from the lake, during early construction.

Further progress.
