Transforming a small 1940's cabin into a lakefront mansion

This is what you might call an extreme makeover. The original cabin is very small and dark, and has difficult access.

I measured the entire existing house and produced a plan. This how the original house looked:

Based on this plan I designed a new home that took advantage of as much of the existing home as possible, while including everything my clients wanted. The property has a fantastic view of a mountain lake. They wanted to have a beautiful lake home that provided space for entertaining family reunions, and some quiet, private spaces. They wanted a style that would feature their antiques.

This design is exactly what they wanted.

The clients took my ideas to a builder and realized this is too much to afford. Now we are working on a design that costs less. They are also considering demolishing the old cabin.
